What is mould?
Mould is a type of fungus found almost everywhere in the natural environment. Mould can be found in the ground, on plants and on rotting vegetation. Moulds break down plants and other organic material, playing a vital role in the cycle of nature.
Indoors, however, mould is very undesirable. Mould grows through a network of microscopic threads called hypha and disperse via airborne spores. It is these airborne spores that can lead to health problems among those exposed to them at high levels.
Mould thrives in damp, warm environments, but the spores can survive being dried out and can sprout again should these surroundings become humid again.
Mould appears in a variety of shades: white, grey, yellow, red, green, brown and black.
